Reference to the first Blood Knight, Fernam, appears in the Book of Lorath supplemental text. It describes this character as a protector of the lord of Gea Kul who was gravely injured by a vampire and only saved because the lord's top mage was able to slow the spread of the vampiric infection. As a result, Fernam gained some of the vampire's abilities, but risked succumbing to the infection and turning into a monstrosity at any moment. Future Blood Knights would inherit this same curse, being able to utilize fantastic vampiric powers at the risk of becoming a vampiric thrall in the process.

While information confirming the existence of the Blood Knight as a new class was first datamined from Diablo Immortal, there are many elements of this origin story that point towards the Blood Knight's presence in Diablo 4. The biggest connection to Diablo 4 is the origin of Blood Knights coming from Gea Kul, a major city in Diablo 4's Kehjistan region located on Diablo 4 Items the southwestern edge of Sanctuary's map.

Aside from originating in this prominent Diablo 4 city, the game also deals with themes of corrupted blood. The player character becomes host to some of Lilith's blood early on in the game, opening the door for a future Diablo 4 season to expand on this concept and introduce the Blood Knight.

The Blood Knight would also be a great class to help round out Diablo 4's roster from a gameplay standpoint as well. This class utilizes polearms, a weapon type currently missing from Diablo 4, and fights at mid-range with hybrid attack options that can vary in type depending on the player's proximity to the target. Blood Knights also have the potential to unleash their inner vampire and transform into a vampiric thrall, which would act as a natural addition alongside Diablo 4's Druid who also has the ability to shape-shift into various beasts.

Despite only being announced for Diablo Immortal at the current time, it seems very likely that the Blood Knight class will make its way to Diablo 4 in a future season. There are too many connections to Diablo 4 for the Blood Knight to stay trapped on the mobile title, and with new classes being added later on down the line all but assured, including the Blood Knight makes the most sense. As Blizzard looks to keep Diablo 4's gameplay fresh as the seasons go on, introducing a unique and versatile class like the Blood Knight seems like too perfect of a pairing not to happen.

Blizzard has enabled Uniques in Helltide Chests once again, but Diablo 4 players will no longer be able to target farm specific armor and weapon slots. The incident that occurred on July 6 in Diablo 4 bestowed many players with Uber Uniques, the rarest and most powerful items in the game. Classes in Diablo 4 such as the Barbarian or Sorcerer have no class-specific Unique Helms to speak of, which made many players target farm Helltide Chests in the hopes that they'd yield a Harlequin Crest at a favorable 0.5% drop rate.

Though the developers were quick to disable Uber Uniques in Diablo 4 to prevent players from obtaining more Harlequin Crests, this meant that the six rarest Uniques were no longer dropping from any source. Patch 1.0.4 for Diablo 4 was meant to make Helltide Chests more enticing to farm, but  cheap D4 materials the way players optimized a path towards getting an Uber Unique wasn't something Blizzard intended, even if it wasn't that surprising in hindsight.
